Anri 1972 Christmas plate from the designs by Italian artist Juan Ferrandiz with charming Nativity scene of 3 angels and baby Jesus, encircled in a lovely oval wooden frame. The plate is number “N. 0148”. There is an interesting narrative on the back describing the scene, and the Anri Italy paper label is also on the back. This lovely Ferrandiz wall hanging wood plate measures about 9 1/8 inches across, and is about 1 1/2 inches in depth.
The back of the plate describes how “Three little Angels guarding the sleep of the Holy Family …giving a finishing touch to the waiting cradle. The littlest one, wishing to drive home the last nail, picked up the heavy hammer in his small hand. Clumsily striking his finger he cried out with the hurt. The other two immediately ordered him to stop disturbing the silence of that night which was the Holy Night”. You can see the tool box in the manger hay, and two little bunny rabbits peaking out from the straw.
This vintage Anri Ferrandiz Christmas plate is in excellent condition, with a few very minor nicks in the wood frame, and a tiny pinpoint size white spot on the front wooden frame (photos). On the red band around the front scene there are some wood crackle lines that I am guessing were from manufacturing (?) or maybe from age, and these do not detract. There is one small tight wood split line on the back above where you see the hanging wire (photo), again, probably from manufacturing (?) or age.
I do not have the box for this decorative Anri collector plate.
