This elegant Wedgwood blue and white Jasper 1971 Christmas plate is third in the Christmas item series. The brochure that is included says “The hand applied bas-relief motif depicts a view of Piccadilly Circus with the famous statue of Eros in the foreground and the elegant buildings of Regent Street behind.” Also, the brochure has some history about Josiah Wedgwood and says that Jasper “was the last ceramic body to be developed by the father of English potters and has been in continuous production by Wedgwood ever since”. The original box is also included.
The plate measures about 8 inches across. It has raised lettering on the front that says “Christmas 1971”. The back has an impressed mark that says “Wedgwood, Made in England”.
The plate, box, and brochure are in excellent condition. The box has a tiny bit of dirt that you would expect in a vintage item that has been stored away for a long time.
This plate came from a large private collection that I just acquired, which includes collector plates of many types and many manufacturers. The plates from this collection have been stored away, and because they are in such great condition I wonder if they were ever displayed? I will be offering these other plates separately, and I invite you to check my other eCRATER store items for these.
