This is a Gorham Company fine china porcelain plate by America’s best loved artist, Norman Rockwell, entitled “Spring - Spring Tonic”. This limited edition collector plate selection is from the Four Seasons series for 1957 “The Tender Years”. The whimsical scene shows an older man and woman, and we find the man soaking his feet and wrapped in an antique quilt while the woman gives him a spoonful of medicine.
This charming Rockwell plate measures about 10 ¾ inches across. I do not have the original box or certificate for this plate, but I do have the original plastic bag protective covering for the plate which says “The Gorham Total Table” with more printed advertising (see photo).
The plate is in excellent condition. There are some small flecks on the bottom rim which I think are probably small factory-made glaze pops or manufacturing glaze bubbles (?), but I will point them out as possibly a little wear and tear on the bottom.
This plate came from a large private collection that I just acquired, which includes collector plates of many types and many manufacturers, including more Norman Rockwell Gorham plates. The plates have been stored away, and because they are in such great condition I wonder if they were ever displayed? I will be offering these other plates separately, and I invite you to check my other eCRATER store items for these.
